Program Description
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Nurturing the
Healthy Self:
Discovering and dismantling faulty belief
systems, understanding and working with emotions, as
well as inner dialogues with the ‘eating disordered
self’ create dynamic internal shifts in recovery.
Session themes include exploring multicultural
practices of mindfulness, art, writing, dream work,
music, stress reduction techniques and creating the
sacred in everyday life as a means of discovering
true Self to replace the eating disorder.
Nutrition Group and Intuitive
Eating:
We dismantle dieting myths and disordered
eating beliefs with shopping excursions and education
of physiology principles. Participants learn the
truth about metabolism, health, and strength, and how
to move toward self-trust through eventual intuitive
eating.
Interpersonal Group:
Exploring the dynamics of Self in
relationship to others through role playing, psycho
drama, and family sculpting shifts the focus away
from the isolation of disordered eating to building
healthy interpersonal relationships.
Older Adolescent Workshop and Counsel
Circle:
From movement therapy to outdoor excursions,
this activity based group encourages participants to
interact with others. Trust building, media
awareness, stress management, relaxation exercises,
and variety keep adolescents interested
in returning. Food shopping and cooking classes
included.
Multi-Family Group for Parents of Adolescents
and Young Adults:
Psycho-education and supportive interaction
with others teaches parents how to effectively
respond to disordered eating in a family member and
enhances coping skills and wellbeing. This group
meets bi-monthly, with the day and time determined
according to area.
