Central Coast IOP

Pamela Kremza
Marriage and Family Therapist Intern

"My focus of interest is working with trauma and Post traumatic Stress Disorders through an integral approach to healing that considers the body, mind and spirit.”

Pamela attended Pacifica Graduate Institute's M.A. Counseling Psychology Program with an emphasis in Depth Psychology. She began her traineeship requirement in 2004 with Central Coast IOP and has continued growing with the company since, now as a marriage family intern. Through the IOP she has gained extensive experience with group, individual, couple, and family therapy.

Pamela has also worked with adults with chronic and acute mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder while employed at Aurora Vista del Mar Hospital in Ventura, CA. The experience taught her a lot about the intensity of some types of mental illnesses and effective approaches with behavioral modification. Pamela also offers Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.

"Before becoming a therapist, I worked for nearly a decade in the environmental science industries. My undergraduate degree came from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1995 with a Geography and Biology Bachelor of Arts and Science. Growing up in the heart of the city of Chicago my awareness for the need of the natural environment for the welfare of physical and mental health became evident. I began traveling to Costa Rica and fell in love with the intricate and delicate symbiotic interdependence of biodiversity. I endeavored in a partnership building an Eco-friendly retreat center near Cahuita on the Caribbean coast. As I continued to travel several times a year from the city to the lush jungle I became aware of my own psychological healing taking place while being immersed in nature. Sharing this healing experience and growing up in a family affected by a family member inflicted with acute Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, pursuing a graduate degree in psychology became paramount."
